The Funeral Service could take place in the Church, for a burial, or if it's to be a Cremation, it can take place in the Crematorium Chapel. The Reception of the body into church can take place the night before the Funeral Service, or on the day of the Service itself. It is however more usual to receive the body into Church on the day of the Funeral. The Parish Priest will need to agree to a reception into Church the night before the Funeral Service in Church.

Like the Requiem Mass, once the body has been received into church, it will not leave the Church until it is taken to the cemetery or crematorium for the committal. So, please bear this in mind should you wish for your loved one to go to their place of rest starting from home or some other place which was important to them. The way round this is to call at the place on the way to the cemetery/crematorium, but more time would have to be added for this and you will have to speak to your funeral director about this.
