WELCOME
FAMILY MASSES.
As part of our commitment to our Parish Schools, Saint Mary's and Stuart Bathurst, we are introducing a number of Family Masses whereby Children and their Families join us for Mass on a Sunday. They will take an active part in the Mass along with other parishioners. We also encourage them to attend every week, and not just on the weeks where schools are involved. Anyone who wishes to take on a more active role during Mass would be most welcome to do so.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION AND CONFIRMATION PREPARATION.
Preparation for the Holy Sacraments began on Saturday 11th January 2025 at 10am, in the Presbytery. If you wish to be confirmed and Receive Holy Communion, then please make an appointment to speak with Father Michael and he will give you more details. Children who do not go to a Catholic School will be prepared for the Holy Sacraments by the Church. Children who go to a Catholic School will be prepared for the Sacraments including Baptism, by the School. Please be aware that all children being prepared for Holy Communion must have been baptised first. If the Child is now 7 or 8 years of age and has not been Baptised, you must book an appointment with Fr Michael so that your child can be prepared for Baptism. If you have any queries, please ask to speak to Fr Michael. Thank you.
PARISH VISITATION.
I am most grateful to Bishop Timothy for coming last weekend and sharing some time in the parish, speaking to parishioners and visiting people in the Parish. The Report on the parish is available on this website for you to read.
As a result of the visitation, and after discussion with the bishop, there will be a few changes, to help people become more involved with their church, and for us to be a more collaborative community.
Volunteers wanted for various tasks in the church. If you think you can help, please have a word with Fr Michael. Volunteers need to attend church regularly and fill in a volunteers form.
EXPOSITION AND BENEDICTION
There is simple Exposition and adoration with Confession on request every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdayย at 9.15am, with Latin Exposition and Benediction on Fridays at 9am.
THE ROSARY
The Rosary is said in Church every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 9.30am, and during Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at 9am on Friday.
If anyone is interested in becoming a Catholic, please have a word with Fr Michael.
CHILDREN'S LITURGY.
The Children and their parents are invited to go to into the Church Porch for their own liturgy of the word. They will return in to church at the offertory and will bring the gifts to the Altar, at the beginning of the Liturgy of the eucharist.
Thankyou to everyone who has offered to help with this vital ministry to children in our parish.
COUNTING TEAMS.
Thank you to those who have volunteered to help with counting. We now have enough volunteers for 3 counting teams, and a possible 4th. We shall begin this week, and I'll draw up a timetable. After Easter, we shall begin counting in the Church sacristry on a Sunday after Mass.
BAPTISM PREPARATION.
The next Baptism Preparation meeting will be held in the Hall on Tuesday 29th April at 7pm, for anyone who wishes to have their children baptised.
Please note that if a school requests a Certificate of Catholic Practice, you are testifying that you practice your faith by attending church regularly. The Priest cannot sign the form if you do not attend church regularly and you are not known to him.
Blessing of the new statue of Mary at Saint Mary's School. 4th October by Fr Michael.
