The women of Jerusalem mourn for our Lord.

Priest. (Genuflecting) We adore Thee, O Christ, and Praise Thee.

All. (Genuflecting) Because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the World.

Priest. Consider how these women wept with compassion at seeing Jesus in such a pitiable state, streaming with blood, as he walked along. 'Daughters of Jerusalem,' said he, 'weep not for me, but for yourselves and for your children.'

Priest. O Jesus, You told the women of Jerusalem to weep for their sins rather than for you. Make me weep for my sins which caused your terrible sufferings and the loss of my friendship with You.

An Act of Contrition.

All (Genuflecting) I love Thee, Jesus, my love, above all things; I repent with my whole heart of having offended Thee. Never permit me to separate myself from Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always; and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Our Father...Hail Mary...Glory be to the Father.

Sabat Mater

For the sins of his own nation,

Saw him hang in desolation,

Till his spirit forth he sent.
